Coffee

Upon visiting Athens it doesn't take long to realize that coffee is perhaps one of the most important pass times of Athenians (and Greeks in  general). It will become apparent that having a hot or cold cup of Joe is a significant social event and the location is a important as the company. In this section I will try to suggest what I consider among the best places in town to sit down and relax with friends and enjoy some of the best coffees in Athens.

City Link - Voukourestiou Street (City Center)

Just behind Attica, Athens' largest and most fashionable department stores, housed in a beautifully preserved neo-classical building on Panepistimeiou Street one will find a beautiful glass covered atrium. This beautiful, natural light filled area houses the City Link Bistro as well as other high end cafe's just waiting to embrace visitors. Stop in on a warm day as you explore the city and have a coffee or bite to eat before continuing your journey.

Piu Verde - Papagou

Located just below Ymittos mountain in the pine grove filled Papagou Alsos (Park) Piu Verde (or just Verde to most) is truly an oasis, even though it is just a few minutes from the city limits. The all day cafe and restaurant is flooded with natural light and is a perfect meeting spot especially after work. Food and coffee are both delicious and prices are attractive. Verde is literally "all day" as it is open from 9a.m until 2a.m. every day. Definitely worth a visit when in Athens.

Living - Glyfada

Imaging that your living room was extremely spacious, modern, sunny, and had a partial view of the sea. Now imagine that it could seat hundreds of people and everyone was having a good time....this is close to what sitting in "Living" in Glyfada (in the southern suburbs of Athens) is like. Enjoy a cold coffee, have a drinks at the bar or on a comfy sofa, eat some tasty food, and just let your worries fall away.

Gazi College - Glyfada

Great place to have coffee, snacks, food and drinks at all times of the day. One of the best points is are extremely clever design elements which bring back memories of school or college. Try the hot dog and burgers for lunch, the pancakes for breakfast or the poached eggs for brunch! Then visit the sea (about 100 meters away) for a nice digestive stroll.
