The New Acropolis Museum

The Acropolis museum was founded in 2003 and opened its door to the pubic in the summer of 2009. The beautifully constructed and curated museum is a true landmark in Athens and has a stunning view of the Acropolis, Lycabettus hill, and of a large part of the city of Athens. The museum houses over 4,000 exhibits including the very stunning Caryatids which once adorned the Erechtheum on the Acropolis. The museum has received several awards since opening, enhancing the view that it is truly a monument to both to architecture and to the conservation of history. Please see our "Useful Information" page for more about the museum.

    1. You have to go!! Since I last went they have brought elephants as well. You must also pet the lemurs..they are in an open enclosure where people can walk among them. It is a great experience.
